For some reason that last panel gives me chills.
Agreed Varan… Although it’s hard to judge his expression, but it almost looks like he’s plotting something. Then again, he doesn’t seem the type to openly display his emotions on a whim.
I’m not sure about that. He looks like he’s smiling ever so slightly.
I read his expression as thoughtful, with maybe a hint of wistful. As if he’s reflecting on the truth of her statement. I certainly don’t see anything sinister about it.
I agree with wyvern either that or it could be pity of some sort
nah, he just played dead (sorry for the bad pun) so that she got easily bored and leave him be.
wise move indeed.
…and now she has no idea that he can be active (or at least aware) during daylight hours. And, if anyone asks her later on, that’s what she knows.

OMG he is awake. Jacklyn you have lucked out how your a ghost Luke can’t kill you.
Also he looks so young…. what is it does he lose all his stress lines during daylight hours?? Also how is he awake?? 0.o
Nah, I think his expression almost says “Hmm, that was interesting.” With slight hints of longing, almost. Now that sounds out of character for him, but he doesn’t seem angry in the SLIGHTEST, as opposed to my expected reaction.
Some people imagine vampirism to be somewhat like Dorian Grey’s painting, eternal youth and vitality, despite being dead. I didn’t notice any stress lines while he was awake, aside from the perpetual scowl.
Finally… he doesn’t HAVE to sleep during the day, any more than you have to sleep at night. It just seems more convenient since he can’t be out and about in the sunlight.
Well, it could be “Darn, I wish I could drop the ‘tude and have fun…”
Or it could be “Darn, the one person on this site I can’t turn into a snack…”

Prime example of “if I ignore it, it will go away.” XD
The expression in that last panel is fantastically done – it’s so very enigmatic, almost a smile except not quite and maybe a little wistful and also pensive? It’s just – wow, it’s so well-done, and it has all the complexity of an actual person, and just…yeah. 8|
