Page 36 – Apocalypse
“Waking” up in a crossroads…
(The following commentary was on last week’s Patreon post.)
There are some pages that kick my ass, and there are some that leave me questioning my life’s choices. This page made me want to walk away from the entire comic. Yet as of five minutes ago, I threw my stylus down and saved the page for Patreon. I could’ve continued on, refining things until I was happy with it all, but that would have left me upset for missing another update. Again, it’s not perfect, but it’s finished.
Originally, I had planned to use this page as a style change for this scene, switching over to my attempt at a more standard black & white manga page, screentones and all. But as I threw in some of the color, I couldn’t stop, and my backslide into “Oh, I love the ‘animated’ look” returned. 😅 This was also another page that was supposed to be a double-length one, but I split it up as well when I realized how much time I would’ve needed to finish it. I think a lot of these final pages for this chapter ended up being double-length because during my original planning phase, I saw the finish line I was dumping all I can into the fewest of pages. But there are some coming up where I want to keep the long format. *deep breath*

And history repeated itself. I didn’t finish Patreon’s page until 30 minutes ago, but it’s done and posted. Not having a buffer has been a race to the finish line each week, but I’m not skipping anymore updates if I can help it.
