Back on Page 47 when Luke was standing outside, not only was he listening to the conversation, but he could feel what Pepper felt. He intended to step in and deflect, but his words weren’t well thought out. And when he upset her, he felt that, as well.
When Luke’s background is finally seen, it will be a chance for me to show what a “thrall” is in this universe. (I use the word “ghoul” instead, though. Spoilers? Luke was a ghoul at the start of his vampire life, something that was hinted at in the dream during Chapter 5.)
