Monster Soup

The next page is a double-length one and was the one that took me three weeks to finish. However, I challenged myself not long ago and was able to make three pages in a week. :D (On average, though, a page can take me about 12 hrs.) As of today, I have seven more pages to finish in this chapter.

Side note: I plan to officially launch the BISQUE side comic in May for MerMay. 🧜‍♀️

I want to acknowledge the passing of Akira Toriyama. I was a fan of Dragon Ball Z growing up (and I’m still a fan), I also drew a lot of fan art from that time. I was trying to locate some of it to post today, but I couldn’t seem to find it. (I blame all the times I’ve moved and stuff still in boxes.) Even I wasn’t immune to the cringe-worthy OC inserted fan comics. Toriyama’s influence is also present in MONSTER SOUP. The way I name characters was inspired by the way he named his in DBZ. Hearing the news about his passing was a gut punch to me and many others. It didn’t seem real. Notable deaths happen all the time, and I never take the time to talk about them, but this one isn’t like the others to me. He was an incredible powerhouse in the creative sphere, his inspiration and influence was… is global.

I had more heartfelt words I wanted to say, yet they’re escaping me at the moment.

I forgot that I recently drew Android 18 back in January and posted it on X Twitter and Instagram. Though I still can’t find the fan art I made when I was younger. :(
