In some of the origin myths of the god, Atum, it’s mentioned that he emerged from a blue lotus or water lily. I chose the lotus for this scene, though I accidentally went overboard in the petal area. (Made them more stylized.)

In other news, I go through random obsessions(?) from time to time. Not long ago, I took a deep dive into the world of fountain pens, and before that it was red ‘n blue dual colored pencils for sketching. “Which ones are the smoothest? Which ones are the hardest? Which ones will I like more?” Turns out, it’s the Mitsubishi ones I like the most. Just the right amount of hardness for me and not waxy at all. A smooth-hardness, as I tend to describe it. But that also depends on the paper. (I prefer smooth printer-like paper, rather than rough sketch paper.)

My latest “obsession” has been mechanical keyboards. I’ve used many keyboards over the years, with the first being a simple standard one that came with my computer. But after I got a free mechanical keyboard from a promotion (I can’t remember where), I didn’t realize the new rabbit hole I would soon find myself falling into. This keyboard was a MEK2 from iBUYPOWER. It came with blue “clicky” switches. I thought to myself, “Oh! It will feel like I’m typing on a typewriter.” But I’ve never really used a typewriter, so how would I know? I used this keyboard for a year, but after a while, I grew to hate the sound and feel. Then I started looking up switches and other ways I could mod this board. However, I would need to tear it down and solder off the old switches and solder on the new ones. Well, that was a task I didn’t want to do. So I ended up biting the bullet and purchased a Keychron V6 (wired) when it was on sale. I bought this one specifically based on reviews and the fact it was 100% customizable and hot-swappable. I picked out the one with brown switches (tactile) since they were quieter, yet allowed me to feel something when I pressed the key. I used this keyboard for a year before I grew annoyed at these switches, as well. Though, they weren’t as annoying as the blue switches. Then after weeks of looking at views of switches and keyboard modding, I decided to switch out my switches. I ended up going with Akko Rosewood (linear). I only bought two packs, totaling 90 switches, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to fill the whole board, but once everything was swapped out, I took the new switches for a test run, and WOW! Sooooo smooth and fun to type on, and quiet!

During my deep dive into YouTube’s world of keyboard modding, I did stumble upon one keyboard that stopped me in my tracks. It was the Lofree Flow Lite with Hades switches. There was something about the sound (or lack thereof) and “feel” of this combo that reminds me of typing on one of my first laptops. It tickles some part of my brain that craves more.

But now that my keyboard is feeling like butter, I think I can move on and find another obsession. Wait, I could switch out the stock keycaps for something better and make it extra buttery… 🤔 💀
